چکیده

Abstract Microscopic fungi occupy a vast number of habitats, are taxonomically diverse, degrade complex substrates, and have stood out for their capacity to biosynthesize plethora specialized metabolites. Such molecules structurally many applications in fundamental applied sciences, example, medicine, material food chemistry, textile pharmaceutical industries, agronomy, among other fields. However, despite the tremendous biotechnological value fungi, these organisms understudied, limiting knowledge taxonomy, some putative applications. Notably, specific habitats remain unexplored terms mycobiota. Based on considerations, this review describes known fungal diversity associated with ants/nests, metabolic potential, possible metabolites drug discovery programs focused developing treatments human diseases. According revision, has been studied by applying conventional methodologies such as isolation morphological identification soil from mounds nest chambers, indirectly ants’ cuticles glands. The subfamilies, genera, taxonomical information, geographical origin ants which filamentous yeast commonly isolated also described. Furthermore, important information is presented concerning difference between ant-associated mycobiota that surroundings, discarding extrapolation chemical biological fungi. Altogether, evidenced lack regarding composition encouraging research exploring chemistry biosynthesized mycobiota, well elucidation allelopathic potential inside nests. Graphical

Bioactivity of secondary metabolites and thallus extracts from lichen fungi

Fungal secondary compounds and total extracts are known to affect growth of bacteria, fungi, and plants. This study tested the effects of purified compounds and total extracts from three lichens on the growth of two plant pathogens, Ophiostoma novo-ulmi ssp. americana and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Usnic acid showed no reduction in relative growth rates (RGR), whereas vulpinic acid reduced RGR f...

Metabolites from Alternaria fungi and their bioactivities.

Alternaria is a cosmopolitan fungal genus widely distributing in soil and organic matter. It includes saprophytic, endophytic and pathogenic species. At least 268 metabolites from Alternaria fungi have been reported in the past few decades. They mainly include nitrogen-containing metabolites, steroids, terpenoids, pyranones, quinones, and phenolics. This review aims to briefly summarize the str...

Bioactivity of Fungal Endophytes as a Function of Endophyte Taxonomy and the Taxonomy and Distribution of Their Host Plants

Fungal endophytes--fungi that grow within plant tissues without causing immediate signs of disease--are abundant and diverse producers of bioactive secondary metabolites. Endophytes associated with leaves of tropical plants are an especially exciting and relatively untapped source of novel compounds. However, one major challenge in drug discovery lies in developing strategies to efficiently rec...
